Let's Pray

Even though we’re 2,000 miles away, the wildfires in Southern California feel close to home because many ministry friends live in or near the impacted areas. Here are some ways they’ve asked us to pray:

–    Pray for the firefighters and first responders – for their endurance, their protection, and for wisdom as they navigate and fight the fires.

–    Pray for the families and especially the children who have lost homes, possessions, and schools. Pray for God’s comfort, peace, protection, and provision as they rebuild their lives.

–    Pray for those in authority over the impacted areas – that they would recognize holes and inadequacies in their systems and be motivated to make necessary changes.

–    Pray for people to come to know Jesus in a new way as they endure the impact of the fires. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in their lives, to comfort them, and to give them a revelation of Jesus that would bring them closer to Him.

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, we pray for Your mercy on Southern California and for those impacted by the fires. We pray for your protection and provision. Lord, still the winds and do what only You can do to completely stop these fires and prevent further destruction. Where people are plotting to bring harm or loot neighborhoods, foil their plans. Give wisdom, endurance, and protection to each firefighter, and bless them and their families for their sacrifices and diligence. Give those who are in authority the wisdom and courage they need to lead and respond in ways that would protect the people and places under their care. Bless those who have lost so much, Lord. Give Your people hearts that are willing to respond to new needs, so we can be living expressions of Jesus’ love. Thank You that You are moving and working in this desperate situation, and we pray You would use it to bring an entirely new group of people into Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.

As of today, 150,000 people remain under evacuation orders and warnings, and the fires are far from being contained. Please continue to pray for God’s mercy and intervention in this urgent situation.
