We’re living proof that a mother’s prayer can change generations.

When Pastor Allen was a little boy, his mother, Betty Jackson, was told she had six months to live. As the plane carrying her to the Mayo Clinic for testing climbed above the clouds, her thoughts turned to her three young sons and she offered a simple, silent plea: “If there is a God, let me know the truth before I die so I can tell it to my children.”

A special Mother’s Day episode of the Culture & Christianity Podcast recounts the miracle that quiet prayer brought to the Jackson family, both from Pastor Allen’s point of view and that of his mother, who lived many more faithful, impactful years before going home to the Lord in 2024.

Through recorded interviews, the podcast shares Betty and George Jackson’s emotional testimony of the encounter with Jesus that completely changed the spiritual trajectory of their home and family. Pastor Allen also recalls how his mother’s healing and his parents’ determined faith affected his life decisions as he grew to adulthood.

“My parents were so dramatically changed by (my mother’s) encounter with Jesus that they never went back to their original shape,” Pastor Allen said. “We should all live our lives in such a way that our faith changes generations.”
