As violence washes across our nation, city after city, distrust toward law enforcement and rejection of authority continues to be cultivated. As Christ-followers, we must choose to be an awake and active influence, even if the violence has not yet reached our own communities.
Let’s start now by praying for those in authority over us, and for those who stand watch on our behalf:
Heavenly Father,
You called this nation into existence. It was birthed from sacrifice and a desire for the freedom to worship Jesus as Lord. I thank You for our nation, and for the liberties and freedoms we enjoy.
Lord, we have presumed upon Your grace and Your mercy. Forgive us for our arrogance. Forgive us for the ease with which we have turned our backs on You. I pray You would once again begin to restore the heart of this nation. Awaken Your people. Give us listening ears, and eyes to see, and understanding hearts, that we might take our places.
We pray for those in authority over us. May they make decisions that promote godliness and honor You, and let their leadership restore peace to our cities. We lift up those who invest their lives in serving and protecting us. Keep them safe from those who would bring them harm, and from those who are intent on their destruction.
Lord, restore our nation and awaken Your Church as we have never seen before.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
We cannot afford to be passive any longer, or by the time lawlessness arrives, it could be too late to use our voices. In our pursuit to be salt and light, I leave you today with the words of Paul: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” – 1 Cor. 16:13
Onward in Him,
