Let's Pray

The violence in our nation is increasing, striking close to home. In our community, a young man was shot to death just after a high school graduation. A week later, we witnessed the devastating school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers. A week after that, a man opened fire at a hospital in Oklahoma, leaving four innocent people dead.

We’re facing an epidemic of violence, and we need to pray:

Heavenly Father,

We are a nation in need of healing. The violence we see, day after day, and in city after city, is appalling. We haven’t valued human life, nor the lives of our children. We have treated life as if it were insignificant, and we’ve treated You as if You were irrelevant. We ask for your forgiveness. We have given ourselves to other things, and we ask for Your mercy.

We ask You to turn back the violence and raise up a standard against the spirits of death, murder, anger, and hatred. Send Your angels to stand guard around us where they are needed. May the plots of wickedness be exposed, and may those who have schemed to destroy others fall into the pits they have dug themselves. Give us leaders in our cities, communities, and states who fear the name of the Lord and who will stand for righteousness, godliness, and holiness.

We thank You that You’re a God who delivers, and You’re a God of mercy and justice. We praise You in advance for all that You will do.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

The prayers of God’s people make a difference. Even a handful of people who are fully committed to serving the Lord are enough to cause God to change the course of nations. Let’s decide to be those people!

Onward in Him,
