Let's Pray

A question I frequently hear is, “What can I do?” Many of us understand there are problems that need to be addressed, but we aren’t sure what steps we can take to make a difference. Well, here’s my best answer: Give thanks.

One of the most profound things you can do, spiritually, is to be thankful. This is true, even when circumstances are tough and there’s confusion all around you. When you can’t think of anything to be thankful for, you can always thank God for who He is: holy, good, just, sovereign, loving, all-knowing, all-present, our Creator, our Provider, and so much more. Remembering these truths and praising Him for them will help you navigate any situation, as you draw closer to Him.

During two recent sermons, I dove deeper into the many blessings that come from thankfulness, and you can watch them here:

Now, I have an assignment for you: Intentionally be thankful. Set aside ten minutes a day to give thanks to God. Give thanks during your downtime. While you’re driving to the store or doing chores, say, “Thank You, God, for a family to take care of. Thank You for a car and for money to buy groceries. Thank you that You provide all I need.”

As you make the effort to give thanks to God, heaviness will lift. Clarity will come. God will begin to move in your mind, heart, spirit, and circumstances, and you’ll recognize the power of thankfulness in a whole new way.
