Jesus is not like us. He spoke to the wind and the waves, and they grew still. He stood outside Lazarus’ tomb and said, “Come here,” and Lazarus walked out. That’s why we worship Him. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and at His name, every knee will bow in Heaven and Earth and under the earth. He is worthy of our praise!
At church, we are led into worship by skilled musicians—but what does it look like to praise God when we’re alone? Watch this short video and I’ll give you a picture:
God inhabits the praises of His people. Here’s a simple prayer of praise you can offer Him today:
Heavenly Father, I give You praise today for You are worthy. You created the earth and all that is in it. You gave me life and set my feet on a path of righteousness. I give thanks to You because You have chosen me and called me out of the darkness. You have forgiven my sins and restored my soul. You, and You alone, deserve glory, and honor, and praise. Let all the earth be filled with the praises of our God. Let the Name of Jesus be lifted up, once again, across our land—on campuses, in courtrooms, throughout the halls of government, within our homes, from our pulpits—may the praises of God break forth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
We don’t worship the Lord because His ego is so fragile that He needs to be propped up by our affirmation. We worship Him because we lose sight of the fact that He is beyond us, and nothing is impossible with Him. We have the privilege of bearing His name in time, serving Him until we see Him in eternity.
