Sanctuary of Scripture: The Walk Way

Family Prayer Guide: Our City, State, and Nation

Week Four

Our great freedoms and liberties have emerged from a Judeo-Christian worldview, derived from the Bible. Each generation must determine what principles will guide us. This is a tremendous responsibility; if we fail to embrace these principles and teach them to the next generation, they will be lost. The Sanctuary of Scripture: The Walk Way provides space for interactive and innovative learning opportunities to teach biblical principles and reinforce the God-honoring values that have defined us as a nation. Join us this week in praying for our city, state, and nation.

Almighty God, we acknowledge that You raise up leaders and You put them down. We humbly ask that You would grant us leaders—men and women—who fear Your name. Deliver us from those who deny You or oppose Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Heavenly Father, You have abundantly blessed our nation, only through Your grace have we known liberty and freedom. Raise up voices in this generation to speak the truth, open wide the doorways for the proclamation of the Gospel and grant us the humility to submit to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Lord, we have turned away from You and imagined we could secure our future. Forgive us. We humbly ask for Your direction. We submit ourselves as learners; open our hearts to understand Your ways. May we see the victory of our God in the midst of this season and may Jesus’ name be boldly proclaimed throughout our city, state, and nation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have chosen Murfreesboro as a home for us. We ask that You would give wisdom and understanding to the leaders of our city — that we would see the name of Jesus boldly proclaimed throughout its streets. Thank You for bringing us to a place where we have the freedom to live out our faith and share it with others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Almighty God, I believe You called this nation into existence — that You have protected us and delivered us time and time again. Forgive us for being distracted. We have had our hearts invested in other things. We choose to honor You, and we pray that the name of Jesus would be lifted up once again in our nation, in our cities, and in our homes. Lord, turn the hearts of the people to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Lord, we pray for our leaders — for all those in authority over us — direct their steps and protect us from deception. In Your great power and wisdom, establish us as a people with a heart for God. Awaken a people to Your purposes and Your power. You alone can secure our future. In You alone we put our trust. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for every voice You’re using to speak truth in our nation and to the nations of the world. I thank You for the tools You have given us and for all the different ways we can communicate. Lord, we pray protection for those in leadership who are standing boldly for the truth, that You will continue to open wide and effectual doors to share the gospel and that no person will be able to close them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
