FAMILY PRAYER GUIDE: Children and Families
The Church’s commitment to children and strengthening families is more important than ever. This project will serve as a tool to better serve and minister to the children and families in our congregation, our community, and well beyond. The most profound impact on our spiritual lives comes from the generation behind us, and our assignment is to have the same impact on the generations ahead of us. Join us this week in praying for children and the strength of our families.
Father, we humbly ask forgiveness for those times when we have been silent, distracted, or unwilling to share what we knew about You and would not acknowledge our awareness of You. We choose a new path. Give us a new boldness and courage, a new trust in You to hold out the light that we have experienced so that future generations might have hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Lord, You have put our feet on a path that we might spend our days and our strength in service to You. Help us and give us a new heart—a heart that is more receptive, understanding, and aware of what You are doing in those around us. Give us the boldness to be identified as Your people, with a willingness to take Your truth into our homes. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit upon our families. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Heavenly Father, give us wisdom to order our lives in such a way that our families are strengthened. May our homes be places of peace, righteousness, and joy. Deliver us from every expression of evil intended to disrupt Your purposes for our families and our homes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Lord, may my family traditions align with Your instruction in Psalm 78:4 to “tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power and the wonders He has done.” Help me transform them where necessary for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Almighty God, You established the family, and only You can restore us. Turn the hearts of our fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Awaken us all to our responsibilities to the children. Grant our young people the opportunity to grow in strength of body and spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Heavenly Father, I want the children in my sphere of influence to know You and live for You. May they each have a personal experience with You and call upon Jesus as their Savior and Lord, able to trust You in the storms of life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Lord, children perfectly model how to interact with You. May the little people around me know Your blessings as I do. Help me be an example to them of obedient trust and truth, dependent upon You in every respect. In Jesus’ name, amen.
