Bad news takes on a new meaning when it hits close to home. In Nashville, the past month brought a tragic shooting at a Christian school and destructive tornadoes, leaving many heart-broken, with their lives, families, and home disrupted. These events illustrate how tragedy and suffering come in many ways and forms. It is seldom expected, and it’s typically unwelcome.
Pastor Allen has a short prayer to encourage those of you who are walking through difficult circumstances today:
Unexpected events happen to all of us, and it’s wise to think about how we can respond BEFORE we find ourselves (or our loved ones) in one. Pastor Allen’s recent sermon, In the Midst of Tragedy, provides a biblical perspective on tragedy and suffering, and practical ways we can prepare, react, and respond as Christ-followers.
Even in our most trying circumstances and seasons, we can take heart: God is working, He is watching over us, He loves us, and He will make a way.
