Why are some of the most oppressed countries in the world the most on fire with Christian faith? Pastor Allen addressed this question and more when he was a guest on Fox News’ Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany on August 15.
In an episode celebrating the recent safe return of Christian pastor, missionary pilot, and American citizen Kevin Rideout, who was held captive by kidnappers in Niger for nine months, Pastor Allen commended the U.S. government for their actions in Rideout’s recovery. He reminded viewers that the freedom Christianity brings is why it’s important for people like Rideout to share the gospel in difficult places, and it’s also the reason people in areas facing great governmental oppression are turning to Christianity in large numbers.
“They have seen the truth about communism, socialism, and Islam, and the people under that tyranny are desperate for expressions of freedom,” Pastor Allen said. “Real freedom … begins in the spiritual realm. In the celebration of Jesus, they find individual freedom, and that gives them hope that freedom can come to their broader cultures. That’s been the pattern of our faith for two millennia now, and the Christian Church needs to remember that heritage.”
