Freedom From Worry — Email 2

There are many reasons we need to overcome worrying, and one of the most important is because God tells us not to worry! If Scripture tells us not to do something, that means it’s possible to avoid it. The Bible has dozens of verses commanding us not to worry and not to fear.

Listen to how Pastor Allen explained what God says about worry:

When anxiety, fear, and worry threaten to overwhelm you, here’s the answer: Turn to God’s Word—His instructions, His assurances, and His promises. Read them out loud. Write them out and put them somewhere you’ll see them often. Focus on what God says and let His peace replace your worry. Here are some verses to help you get started.

  • Matthew 6:34 (NIV®) “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

  • Isaiah 43:1 (NIV®) But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob,  he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;   I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

  • Psalm 121:7–8 (NIV®) The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;  the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

God provides a way for us to overcome the feelings of worry, hopelessness, and despair that threaten our hearts and minds. And Jesus promised we can have His peace—not the absence of trouble or difficulties but calm faith and trust in God. Let’s cast our anxieties on Him today.
