Many years ago, a businessman who wanted to help the children made a donation that began Character Quest—a week-long day camp at World Outreach Church where fourth and fifth graders can learn character-based leadership skills. Thousands of students have gone through the camp since that time, and 350 more will complete their “quest” on campus next week. Before the summer ends, we’ll host four other camps, serving children from kindergarten through high school. But we’re not the only church that’s helping students grow. Across the country, children will be participating in Vacation Bible Schools and church day camps, and over two million will attend a Christian camp.
Let’s pray for the children as camps begin:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the beginning of summer and all the opportunities it represents for children, students, and families. We ask Your presence to dwell at every Christian camp that takes place this summer. Let the children and students have a revelation of Jesus that would shape their futures, far beyond any activity that’s planned. Lord, help them to recognize what it means to hear Your voice and give them the desire to honor You with their lives. We lift them before You today and ask for a special blessing upon each child’s life, home, and family. We pray for the children in our families, our communities, our nation, and around the earth—move in their lives, give them a hunger for Your truth, and protect them from evil. We also pray for all those who give their time and energy to the spiritual growth of our children. Bless them, Lord. Give them wisdom, strength, and endurance from You, and help them to grow closer to You as they serve.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
The children aren’t just the future of the Church. They are the Church of today! Thank you for your prayers as we invest our time, efforts, and resources in helping this next generation know, follow, and love the Lord.
